Faculty Member, History
Assistant Professor
Prof David Arnold
About
My primary research interests are in the Histories of Medicine and Sport. I am also interested in exploring the relationship between Historical and non-Historical modes of recording the past. Geographically, my interest is in South Asian pasts--both in South Asia and elsewhere, particularly in Britain.
I received my BA (Hons) from Presidency College, Calcutta in 1999; MA and MPhil from JNU, New Delhi in 2001 and 2003 respectively and my PhD from SOAS, University of London in 2006. I held a Felix Fellowship at SOAS from 2003 to 2006. I also held Wellcome Trust Fellowships at the Universities of Southampton and Oxford Brookes. I was a Lecturer in Modern HIstory at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
